HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY !!!!!!!

What a Great weekend I have had.
This quilt is a disappearing nine patch that I had on the frame and quilted this weekend in a continuous curve pattern.
This quilt is one that I volunteered to quilt for one of the guilds that I am a member of. I also did it in continuous curve, then bound it, and now it is ready for 'The Love Goddess'.
This is one of my 4 helpers in the studio. He tips the scales at 100 lbs and acts as though he owns the place. This is ROCKY. The quilt top that you can see hanging on the frame is one for Devine Quilters to give to a special organization. Beth Karr did the center of the quilt. Mary Cross colaborated on the borders and backing, and now I will do the quilting and bind it. I am waiting for a special pantograph to come in next week to use on this top, but the back is ready to load, the top is ready to load, and the binding is made. All I have to do is cut the batting and load it on the frame. It will be ready in time for our meeting next Monday night.
Mr. "OLT" hung more of my thread racks today. I did warn him that I would be needing even more of them hung in a few weeks. Thread is one thing that I will be looking for when I go to Knoxville for the AQS show in July.
I also finished a block for the 12 days of Christmas block of the month. Two turtle doves. I am almost half finished with the French Hen block, but I have to stop for the weekend.
I have had loads of fun in the studio over this long weekend. It is so good to have a husband that really doesn't mind me spending every minute in the studio over the weekends. We did go to my brother's house on Saturday for a pool party and to 'surprise' Pitty Pat with a birthday supper. We had a great time. It is so seldom that all of us can get together. Of course, not everyone was there. The ones that were not, were really missed.
I am glad that I have a short work week, as I can't wait to get back into the studio. The time is getting close for letters to go out to friends attending 'Summer Fun' quilt camp, so I also need to be thinking about some special activities for them.

The Zoo !!!!!!!!!!

I could be talking about life around the house, but, these three wonderful people went to the zoo last weekend and sent me this picture. They are growing sooooooo fast that I can't keep up. These cousins love each other and they love to do things together. I sure hope that lasts forever.
Tori has my camera in Clemson this weekend, so will post more next week.

DAD Project

The South Carolina Committed Dental Hygienists (SCCDH) presented a very special monetary gift to the South Carolina Dental Association this past weekend.

This is a picture of Dr. Charlie Maxwell, Wanda Coleman, and I as this check was presented to the SCDA. For more information on the DAD project you can find it at the SCDA website. The association is looking for volunteers to help with the project this year. The dates are August 5 - 7, 2010 and will be held in Greenville, South Carolina. They need Dental Hygienists, Assistants, and just plain good people to assist in this endeavor. Volunteer if you can, you won't believe the good feelings you will have for doing so. Check out the website to view a video of last years event that was held in Charleston.

I received a very nice letter from the SCDA this weekend thanking us for our contribution.

Dental Hygienists Rock !!

I spent last weekend meeting with the South Carolina Committed Dental Hygienists (SCCDH) during our annual meeting. We meet every year with the South Carolina Dental Association and this year we met at Myrtle Beach. The weather was absolutely wonderful and we had a great meeting.

During the weekend SCCDH invited a faculty member from all six of the Dental Hygiene programs to visit with us during our luncheon on Friday. I received responses from four of the programs, so we presented special gifts to their programs. I don't have a picture of the presentation to Trident Tec, but they will receive their gift from our newsletter editor, very soon. Sorry that I missed you.

I WANT MY NEW DESIGN WALL !!!!!!!!!!

You know, I have asked for special design walls for the last 2 years. I ask at Mother's Day. I ask for my anniversary. I ask for my birthday. So far, no one has taken the time to do this for me. So, if you happen to see my Son, my Daughter, or my Husband, please put these thoughts in their heads. Maybe you will have better luck.

Now, why do I want new design walls? This is a top that I just finished. Not enough room to hang and take a picture. This one is totally pieced, but if I were working with seperate blocks, I could not get them all on the wall.

I hope to piece the back for this quilt and POSSIBLY get it loaded on the machine today. If I don't get it on the machine today, then I will next weekend. I still haven't decided how to quilt this one. Whether to use a nice panograph or try something different. I am sure it will tell me what to do very soon. It is Jamie's Alabama Quilt. He has only been waiting 3 or 4 years for this quilt. My husband told him that he would have had it within 2 weeks, if he had not offered to pay me for it. Actually, I was really waiting until I had the Longarm up and running, so that I could quilt it myself.
